a blue mask of a character zuko likes, it has been altered to allow him to teleport to any location he has been on the map. it is the mask of the vigilante, the blue spirit, who happens to have a wanted poster back home. [ ]

Crown Prince Zuko was born to Fire Lord Ozai and Ursa. The heir to the throne, he was slow to take to firebending. Constantly outshone by his younger sister, Princess Azula, Zuko was consistently compared and berated for not being the prodigy she was. Desperate to prove himself to his family, he was often taunted by Ozai and Azula, and often protected by his mother. Zuko was lead to believe his father disliked him for not being like Azula, when that was only a small slip of the true reason. Abandoned by his mother when he was young, his father continued to bully and went out of his way to humiliate him whenever Zuko presented him the opportunity to.

When he spoke up at a war meeting, he was challenged to an Agni Kai for his insolence. Believing he would be challenged by the general he spoke up to, he surrendered and plead for forgiveness once he realised he would face his father. Ozai permanently scarred him, resulting in his burn mark over his left eye, and exiled him from the Fire Nation with the incredibly impossible task of finding the elusive Avatar at age thirteen.

Spending three years in the company of his uncle, Zuko grew bitter, hateful, and hot-tempered in his quest to restore his honour. For a three year journey, he found himself within the next year. Following the Avatar, he tracked Aang all over the world, following him and Team Avatar to the North Pole, the Earth Kingdom, and back to the Fire Nation. Learning about himself, Zuko grew confused and angry with the restoration of his honour, with Azula always tracking and mocking him, and with his own character growth that saw him become more ostracised from the Fire Nation's way of life.

Joining Team Avatar, Zuko began to find peace within himself. Humbler and caring, his strength of character was disapproved by his father and sister, who viewed his choice to be a turncoat to be another slap of dishonour toward the Fire Nation. After he learned the origins of Firebending — and thus became a Firebending Master — he accepted his sister's challenge to an Agni Kai. After Aang defeated his father, he was crowned Fire Lord of the Fire Nation, and became the man — and leader — he wanted to be.

Now, all he has to find is his inner peace, his mother, and perhaps a companion that will stay with him for a lifetime …

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
    visual The first thing one may notice about Zuko is the scar over his left eye. It's large, it's ugly, and it's a burn mark. Despite it, Zuko's still a pretty handsome dumbass. The second thing one may notice about him is his golden eyes and dark hair. Zuko might stand at 5'11. (He's tall and lanky — and will grow taller.) He usually wears red, something akin to what he wears at home, but opts for loose shirts, pants, and practical shoes. He's well-built with a toned physique.

    When you touch him, he runs a little hotter than normal. Sometimes, a flame can be seen in his hand, or smoke billows from his mouth.

    demeanour He's not the nicest firebender in the matchbox. He comes off as cold and uninterested, irritated and annoyed. He's standoffish and definitely puts out an aura that he's better than those around him. When you dig deep beneath all that fire, you find someone who's a dork — he's socially inept, says what he thinks without thinking, wears his heart on his sleeve, and is very uncertain in himself.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS
  • FIREBENDING: This is one of the four elemental bending arts. Zuko is able to actually generate fire — he can create it and he can steal it from other sources. While he can generate flame with his hands, he can also manipulate and even snuff it out with martial art movements. It's pretty sick.

    Zuko's also at the firebending master level, which basically means he's pretty damn powerful and skilled at bending fire. Rather than use the militaristic style of firebending, moving his body in almost a jabbing sort of manner, Zuko can now, basically, dance with the flame. He's able to deflect incoming blasts and disperse said blasts with ease.

    He's able to manipulate, guide, and disperse fire using his own body — he can kick flames into dispersing and he can guide it along his own limbs to their destination. He's excellent at hand-to-hand combat, which means when it's combined with his bending abilities, he's literally on fire.

  • LIGHTNING: This is a branch of firebending and is considered among firebenders to be "the cold-blooded fire." It's considered to be a pretty powerful firebending technique and, while it may be well-known now in the ways it can be harnessed, it had once been regarded to be possessed by incredibly skilled and powerful benders. It all has to do with inner peace — if one has this, they're able to tap into themselves and grasp their inner lightning.

    Similar to firebending, Zuko is capable of redirecting lightning — a skill taught and invented by Iroh. Unfortunately, he's incapable of generating it due to his own inner turmoil (and doesn't make any attempts to learn it throughout the war).

  • SWORDSMANSHIP: Zuko's pretty skilful with swords. He specialises in dual swordplay, using a set of dao blades. He is capable of combining his swordsmanship with his firebending.

  • UNARMED COMBAT: He's capable of breaking oncoming spears with his hands and legs, and is capable of subduing his opponent.

  • STEALTH: Zuko's actually pretty good at concealing himself and thus infiltrating. He's able to break into heavily-defended fortresses without detection. He uses masks and props that are around him, and easily blends into the crowd. He's incredibly good at tracking, too, implying he observes and learns the tics and habits of his subjects.

  • MISCELLANEOUS: His fast and agile, incredibly acrobatic and flexible. He's intelligent! Which may come as a surprise. He's actually a great strategist when he puts his mind to it, using items and weather to his own advantage. He's also pretty good at leading, hence being a Fire Lord, and one who, much later, is regarded as being quite skilled in leadership.

    He also has a way with the ladies, which, again, is pretty surprising considering he's not exactly a great big ball of sunshine.

  • COLD: Zuko can't be in the cold. Naturally, this reduces a firebender's ability and basically incapacitates them. Similarly to how a bender of the earth needs to be removed from being anywhere near his or her element, it's safe to say the easiest way to disable a firebender is to shove them in the freezer.

  • FULL MOON: The full moon works to a waterbender's advantage, as the moon controls the tide, and as firebending is the opposite to waterbending, when this natural occurrence occurs, firebending is weakened to a certain extent.

  • FIREBENDING STYLE: Due to the nature of firebending, which is a very aggressive type of bending that requires the user to attack in close range at times, benders suffer from a lack of defense. Firebending has an incredible lack of defending techniques, which means the bender, usually, needs to improvise. Firebending also uses a lot of energy, thus weakening the bender if they're not a master.

  • LACK OF INNER FIRE: A bender must have an "inner fire", or else their own flame is snuffed out. Zuko's own "inner fire" dimmed somewhat after joining Team Avatar, as he had spent a good portion of his exile searching for the Avatar, which, in itself, was his drive.
